Abstract: The emergy analysis was used to evaluate the sustainability of ceramic industry in Dehua, Fujian Province from 2001 to 2005. Indices and ratios based on emergy flows, such as EYR, ELR, EER and ESI have been calculated, and a new index of Local Resource Self-sufficiency Ratio(LESR) was also applied to the case study. The results show that the sustainability of this system keeps increasing in recent years by and large, but still need to enhance.
