Abstract: This paper introduced the performance parameters and working principle of automatic drilling system that is installed in a rig, the rig on circular orbit can drill 7000-meter deep. A mathematical model of the brake parts is established, relationship between work clamp pressure of disc brake and hook set is obtained. The principle of artificial and automatic feed drill is analysed; precise positioning model of trav- eling block hook is given. Dual hardware redundancy based on Siemens S7-300 PLC's is proposed to achieve the redundant of PLC's CPU module, IM153-2 module and PROFIBUS communication bus. Software design of automatic drilling control system is briefly introduced; it provides a reference for other technicians who studies such technology.
