Since special equipments (elevator, crane, pressure vessel, etc) have clearly geography property, GIS has been successfully used in special equipments information management systems. According to the needs of equipments management from one city security sector, we designed and realize a special equipment information management system based on GIS Web Service. The system was composed of special equip- ments information, Surface Spatial Information, Decision Analysis. Through the use of Web service technol- ogy, GIS system and special equipments information system can be incorporated into a unified service plat- form, and achieve the interoperability between system. It maximized the satisfaction of sharing information and resources and realized the ‘seamless integration’ between GIS systems and information systems.
