Abstract: Underwater localization is an emerging topic in wireless sensor networks. In general, communication between underwater sensors is carried out by ultra sonic signals. Doppler effect becomes more obvious as the speed of ultra sonic signals is slow. This paper addresses the problem of tracking an underwater mobile sensor by Doppler effect. Frequency changes of the received signals are exploited to estimate the depth and speed of the mobile sensor. Further, accuracy of the proposed method is also shown by simulations.
