Abstract: There are a great deal and various types of resource in a distributed grid environment. Resource discovery mechanism is one of the key issues in grid research and application. In this paper, we present a grid resource dynamic organization mechanism with small world characteristics. Supposed that there are a finite number of categories of resource, VO (Virtual Organization) concept is used as the basic organization unit of grid resource. Different types of resources belong to different VO. The characteristic of sources was described with weighted multiple attributes. Based on this, we introduce a novel method of computing attribute similarity between nodes. The relation between resource nodes is established according the attribute similarity and then form VO dynamically. We described how the resource nodes join and leave VO dynamically. A corresponding resource discovery algorithm based on the resource organization mechanism described is presented in this paper. At last, we gave theoretical analysis and did simulation experiments.
