Abstract: A novel TCP-friendly congestion control mechanism P-TFRC is proposed based on network traffic prediction. P-TFRC uses multiscale multi-fractal prediction method to detect network traffic long-range dependence (LRD). Simulation illustrates that the scheme can enhance the tracking capacity of the network traffic. It achieves better performance in terms of intra-protocol & inter-protocol fairness, improving media traffic performance in particular, while maintaining traffic rate as friendly as possible.
