Abstract: Coverage is an important problem for sensor networks to fulfill the given sensing tasks. In conventional sensor networks, sensors are based on isotopic sensing model. However, directional sensors have wide applications, especially in image/video sensor networks. In this paper, we study the issue of coverage enhancement by directional sensors with tunable orientations. We divide a sensing task into two phases: detecting phase and tracking phase. Particularly, during the tracking phase, we propose a path coverage-enhancing algorithm to improve the path coverage along with target trajectory. Extensive simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms.
