Abstract: In 2005, Chadha et al. proposed a group key distribution scheme for wireless sensor networks via local collaboration. The group key was derived from base station’s broadcast message and a node’s secret in the Chadha et al.’s scheme, but there is no authentication for a broadcast message. Lee et al. recently proposed an authenticated group key distribution scheme to improve Chadha et al.’s scheme. This paper proposes a improvement scheme using the “micro” version of timed efficient stream loss-tolerant authentication (uTESLA) and the one-time signature (OTS) schemes. The proposed scheme is more secure and more efficient than previously proposed schemes for wireless sensor networks.
