Abstract: Some problems which exist in today’s SoC SW/HW Co-design are explored in this article: (1) Hardware micro-architecture is transparent for software design; (2) Software programming languages often lack the semantic constructs to specify concurrency; (3) Resource included in some hardware IPs can not be shared with other IP; (4) Software design is not in a good agreement with hardware design. In order to solve these problems, we present macro-processing -based design method for SoC SW/HW Co-design, which includes uniform definition of HW/SW for IP, IP-based function analysis, and IP-based flexible overlapping technology. The experimental result has shown that this method is feasible and effective.
