Abstract: A video capture and image compression system based on DSP was designed and realized in this paper. It analyzed the architecture differences between DM642 and PC platform, also introduced JPEG criterion, and proposed to transplant normal JPEG programs from PC to DSP. In the end, the implementation algorithm was optimized on the DSP. Efficiency before and after the optimization was compared.
