Abstract: Clustering analysis is a basic and important problem in many fields including machine learning, data mining and image segmentation and so on. Clustering is a combinatorial optimization problem. Traditional clustering methods are usually sensitive to initialization due to its hill-climbing local search. This paper explores the application of discrete artificial bee colony algorithm to centroid-based clustering problem. Experimental results on real data sets show that it is applicable to the problem.
