Abstract: In order to meet the actual requirement of CNC, a universal CNC lathe control system based on ARM9 processor is needed. By installing the control system to the different lathes, the lathes can be operated to work. The paper presents a design of a core board which is the key part of the control sys- tem.AT91RM9200 microprocessor and some other chips are integrated into the core board. Many high-performance functions are concurrent, such as receiving and sending commands, high-speed communi- cation, control interface displaying, data processing and so on. Through the bus, the core board can connect to the interface board circuit, and communicate to the AVR microcontroller and the CPLD logic device which are integrated to the interface board, so the control system can realize the operation and control of CNC lathe. Finally, the hardware platform used the modular design, which is greatly convenience for mastery of the sys- tem, maintenance and update.
