Abstract: A login method with side channel is presented to protect password theft by Trojan. The side channel (such as sound, SMS and Animation) can be carefully established so that Trojan can not inter- cept the interaction information through it during user’s login process while no additional hardware is required. For user’s convenience to login, only part of user’s login interaction is done through the side channel, but security is still assured. A universal method behind this is that user’s login interface consists of a lot of sub login interfaces so that Trojan can not identify the current effective sub interface for the inputting password char while user can identify it with the help of side channel. Another problem is to find a side channel requiring no additional hardware. Based on secure side channel, our login method can be effective for all existed Trojans while no additional hardware is needed. An application login with sound side channel is implemented to provide secure and convenient password login for users.
