Abstract: According to the defects of low convergence rate, big steady-state mean square error and local convergence of traditional constant modulus blind equalization algorithm (CMA), an orthogonal wavelet transform blind equalization algorithm based on the ant colony optimization algorithm (ACO-WT-FSE) is proposed. The proposed algorithm integrates ant colony optimization algorithm with wavelet transform con- stant modulus blind equalization algorithm (WT-CMA) to initialize its weight vector. The performance of the proposed algorithm can be improved via full using the global search and positive feedback mechanism of ant colony algorithm and the de-correlation ability of orthogonal wavelet transform. Computer simulations in underwater acoustic channels indicate that the proposed algorithm outperforms WT-CMA in improving con- vergence rate and reducing mean square error.
