Abstract: With the fast development of information technology, the requirements on image quality, size, and transmission speed presently become more and more intense. As one of the kernel components in data compression field, image compression always attracts many researchers' attentions. The purpose of image compression is less exhausted the number of bits and maintaining the quality of the restored image. Image compression using wavelet transform is better .In this paper, the main object of study is the image compression technology, and proposed on frequency and spatial combination of methods. The edge of the image is a “coat”. The low frequency from the wavelet transform is equivalent to the image of the “core”. When image is restored, most of the pixels come from the low frequency coefficients of the wavelet transform, the details of some of the pixels come from the edge detection of spatial domain. The new methods is combined with them and restored to achieve relatively good results.
