Abstract: Self-recovery is a key function requirement for Ethernet switch to ensure highly reliable operation and network robustness in case of malfunction. This paper analyzed the limitations of traditional self-recovery mechanism of Ethernet switch and proposed a novel dual-system self-adaptive recovery scheme, which is characterized in low hardware cost. Additionally, a detailed description of dynamic upgrading and self-adaptive approach as utilized in this scheme were also present.
