Abstract: The article has introduced the developing history and status of image compression chips in the image processing. It also has presented MPE4, H.264, WMV-HD and the standard of AVS Video Codec that of system in brief. After analyzing and researching several typical image compression chips, this article has summarized the developing trend of the embedded type of image compression chips.
