Abstract: SIP is one of the most important protocol in NGN, it is an application-layer protocol for creating , modifying and terminating sessions with one or more participants. It is necessary to analyze the security and imitate the efficiency of SIP protocol while NGN deployment. To be universally known, SIP plays the same role as functionality of INAP in network, so in his paper, the performance of SIP protocol is evaluated through theory analysis and simulation by comparing to the experienced INAP protocol. By choosing two typical service scenarios, this paper calculates the message in numbers and content in bytes, further analyzes the interaction differences of two protocols in details. Furthermore, this paper imitates the different CAPs by running same service logic flow on same hardware configuration server. The results indicate that SIP has the superiority in flexibility and cost and has the inferiority in efficiency compared with INAP. The conclusions of this paper provide valuable reference for deploying of NGN.
