Abstract: The principle and configuration of quantum dot sensitized solar cells are introduced. The research status and developing trends of QDSC are described in the aspects of the microstructure adjustment of photoelectrodes, the option of quantum dots, and the selection of electrolytes and counter-electrodes. The advantages and limits of QDSC are discussed, and available solutions to the limits are also reviewed.
