Abstract: In this paper, the electron band structure of graphene is deduced by using of tight binding approximation method. On this basis the electron energy band equations of single-walled armchair and zigzag carbon nanotubes are derived based on periodic boundary condition, and the energy band curves of (n, n) and (n,0) nanotubes are calculated. Furthermore, the main energy band structure characteristics and conductivity of carbon nanotubes are analyzed.
