Abstract: The novel plate-shaped calcium carbonate (CaCO3) was synthesized by bubbling a CO2 / N2 mixed gas into calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) in the presence of disodium ethylenediamine tetraacetate (EDTA2Na) and Alu-minium chloride anhydrous (AlCl3). The obtained calcium carbonate was characterized with X-ray diffraction (XRD), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM). This research may provide new insight into the control of the morphologies of calcium carbonate.
