Abstract: Coal / Hydrotalcite composites were prepared by chemical co-precipitation and mechanical mixing methods. Through TEM analysis, Coal and hydrotalcites were proved to be more effectively combined by co-precipitation methods. DSC analysis results showed that hydrotalcites can adsorb the heat releasing from coal during the slow oxidation, and the ignition point of coal can be obviously improved, which effectively prevented the spontaneous combustion of coal.
