Abstract: B2O3-BaO-Al2O3 sealing materials for intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cells( IT-SOFC) were prepared by the high temperature melting method. The expansion coefficient of B2O3-BaO-Al2O3 sealing materials with different compositions was studied. The content of SrCO3, 4.95mol%, La2O3 6.00mol %, Al2O3. 9.89mol %, B2O3 39.58mol % , NiO 4.95mol %(CTE=9.17×10-6K-1 20-600) has a well adaptability with YSZ electrolyte. DTA analysis showed that the transition and crystallization temperature was 578 ℃and 609 ℃respectively, but for the soften temperature was 630 ℃. The glass ceramics which had a low rate of weight loss (1.64%) in wet hydrogen atmosphere at 600℃ for 50 hours showed a very good thermal stability. SEM found that the glass bonded well with the YSZ and stainless steel with no clear reaction layer after heat treated at 700℃ for 2h and kept at 600℃ for 10h. The result proved that the obtained B2O3-BaO-Al2O3 sealing materials possess favorable sealing effect.
