By carbonizing the polypyrrole coated palygorskite, a novel catalysts support (PLS@CNX) was synthesized. Transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and Fourier-Transform infrared were employed to characterize samples. Upon loading Pt metal, the Pt/PLS@CNX was as an anode electrocatalyst in DMFC, surpassing that of Pt/C (Vulcan XC-72) catalyst.
