Abstract: FePt-CdS (Mn) nanocomposite particles are synthesized from high temperature solution phase method. TEM images indicate that the FePt-CdS nanocomposite particles exhibit peanut-like morphology. The particle size of FePt is about 2 nm and CdS is about 8-10 nm. X-ray diffraction results show that the structure of FePt and CdS are both face centered cubic structure. The position of photoluminescence peak of FePt-CdS nanocomposite particles is about 486 nm. No difference in structure can be oberseved between FePt-CdS and FePt-CdS(Mn) hybrid nanoparticles. However, addition of Mn in CdS causes the photoluminescence peak a red shift from 486 nm to 507 nm.
