Abstract: As one new type of functional materials, the development of Solid State Lighting Material technology keeps up increasing rapidly and it has become one of leading topics and focus frontiers in material science. Aimed to show the development status, the focuses of R & D and the distribution of R & D and its evolution. The analysis of patent literature from 2000~2008 (data from Derwent Innovations Index（DII）of ISI WoK) is carried out using analysis tools Thomson Data Analyzer (TDA ) and Aureka.
