Abstract: To investigate the functional differences between the two kinds of hemostatic membranes those are mainly made of collagen type Ⅰ and the gelatin respectively. Methods Collagen type Ⅰ and gelatin were used as fundamental ingredient to prepare a new kind of absorbable hemostatic membrane was by vacuum freeze-drying technology. Two kinds of hemostatic membranes were used to detect the microstructure under the microscope, to analyze the cell compatibility, to observe the hemostatic effect on the rabbit central artery of the ear and its liver trauma, respectively. Results The pore size of collagen type Ⅰhemostatic membrane is more homogeneous than gelatin hemostatic membrane. Cytologlcal experiments show that collagen type Ⅰ hemostatic membrane and gelatin hemostatic membrane were planted 2BS, 2d and 5d later using CFDA to stain the viable cells and use fluorescence microscopy to detect the cells density, the cells density of collagen type Ⅰ was significantly greater than the gelatin group, collagen type Ⅰ hemostatic membrane has better cell compatibility. Collagen Type Ⅰ hemostatic membrane on the rabbit central artery of the ear bleeding, the average period of hemostasis was 113 ± 6s, compared with gelatin group of 287 ± 11s that the hemostatic effect is better. In the rabbit liver wound hemostasis tests, the average period of hemostasis of collagen type Ⅰ hemostatic membrane was 89 ± 5s, compared with gelatin group of 187 ± 9s, collagen type Ⅰ hemostatic membrane has better hemostatic effect. Conclusions The properties of collagen type Ⅰ absorbable hemostatic membrane are better than gelatin group.
