Abstract: |
WC-TiC-Co cemented carbides was sintered in Vacuum and Nitrogen. The external and internal structure was observed and analyzed with the aid of X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscope (SEM), Energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS). It was showed that during the sintering of cemented carbide in nitrogen, Titanium migrated towards the surface and got enriched on the sintering skin, forming Ti(C, N) phase, and finally improved the surface hardness. Thermodynamics analysis was used to explain the observed phenomenon.
