Abstract: Trichloroethylene (TCE) is a common organic pollutant in surface water and ground water. A validated GC-MS assay for the quantitation of TCE in ground water is presented here. Dichloromethane is used as the extraction. Compared with the method of EPA’ adopting GC-ECD to detect the concentration of TCE, This assay obsesses a small sample volume and sample preparation, fast run time, high recovery rate, and reproducible and accurate results. It is of great practical significance to make further improvement of the detection of TCE concentration in ground water.
