The hydro-power project bestows benefits on the whole human beings, but at the same time, it also makes quite a severe impact on the neighboring ecological environment, especially on the biological selfpurification in the river. This paper specifically discusses the biological self-purification and bioremediation in the river, and reviews the effect of hydro-power demonstration project on river bioremediation during the period of building new socialist countryside in Jianghan Plain. In the end, appropriate measures have been put forward to minimize the effect of hydro-power project on aquatic life, and to improve the capacity of biological self-purification in the river.
