Abstract: The central task of higher vocational college is to bring up the person with ability of production, management and construction. So practical teaching is becoming more and more important. The traditional practice teaching can no longer meet the demands of highly skilled talents at the front line of production, so teaching method reform is both inevitable and necessary. This article discusses the necessity and method about adopting Item-driving teaching method in higher vocational practice teaching. At the same time, taking the course of "industrial pollution accounting" as an example, the article explain the method of Item-driving teaching. Practice shows that Item-driving teaching method brings "teach, learn, do" together, realizes the integration of theoretic knowledge and skills of practice.
