Abstract: This paper investigates two parameters of mobile communication, path loss exponent and standard deviation, and proposes a method of revised standard deviation ratio (RSDR) to calculate the two parameters. Firstly, we simulate some data of measured power complied with Gaussian distribution. Then the paper calculates the two parameters by using the new method. For comparison the paper also used the method of minimum mean square error (MMSE) to estimate the path loss exponent and standard deviation. Finally we find that compared with the method of MMSE, the method of RSDR is better than to the factor of varying environment and more suitable for engineering applications.
