ABSTRACT

The joint-communiqué originating from the January 2010 summit between India and Bangladesh has opened new doors of opportunities for addressing economic integration not just between India and Bangladesh, but across the South Asian region. In this article, an Edgeworth Box approach has been deployed to help con-ceptualise the various Pareto-optimal solutions that are to be realised through close bilateral cooperation in particular. The article attempts to address some of the issues deterring establishment of trade and transport integration between Bangladesh and India, which are also relevant from the perspective of the entire South Asia region.
