Special Issue on Future Forests and Sustainability
Climate
change, globalization, and increased consumption of materials and energy lead
to higher pressure on the forest resources. The task of intensifying forestry
to produce more timber, paper, and energy, while at the same time ensuring
ecosystem services, such as biodiversity and recreation, is a complex one.
Difficult decisions have to be made if we are to strike a balance between these
demands. These decisions have to be supported by scientifically-based land-use
strategies to deal with trade-offs on different scales. The goal of this
special issue is to provide a platform for scientists and academicians all over
the world to promote, share, and discuss various new issues and developments in
the area of future forests and sustainability.
In this special issue, we invite front-line researchers and
authors to submit original research and review articles that explore future forests and sustainability. In this special issue, potential topics include, but are not
limited to:
-
Natural
forest resources protection
-
Forest
ecological function
-
