Special Issue on Viruses and Diseases

A virus is a small infectious agent that replicates only inside the living cells of other organisms. Viruses can infect all types of life forms, from animals and plants to microorganisms, including bacteria and archaea. Viruses spread in many ways; viruses in plants are often transmitted from plant to plant by insects that feed on plant sap, such as aphids; viruses in animals can be carried by blood-sucking insects. Influenza viruses are spread by coughing and sneezing. Norovirus and rotavirus, common causes of viral gastroenteritis, are transmitted by the faecal–oral route and are passed from person to person by contact, entering the body in food or water.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles on Viruses and Diseases. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Microbial infection and immunity
  • Epidemiological studies on HIV
  • Pathology and laboratory study of viruses
  • DNA viruses
  • Microbiology and infection
  • Virus infection and pathology
  • Transmission and control of viral diseases
  • Chronic viral diseases
  • Virus infection in plants and animals

Authors should read over the journal’s For Authors carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.
