Special Issue on Cyanobacteria Research

Cyanobacteria, formerly called blue-green algae, are a phylum of bacteria that use photosynthesis to acquire energy, generating oxygen as a byproduct. They occupy a broad range of habitats from freshwater, marine, terrestrial ecosystems to the most extreme niches such as hot springs and hypersaline bays. Some species of cyanobacteria produce toxins that affect the health of animals and humans. The toxins can be produced by a wide variety of planktonic cyanobacteria, including microcystis, anabaena, and planktothrix (oscillatoria).

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles on exploring Cyanobacteria Research. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Allophycocyanin
  • Aquatic cyanobacteria
  • Cyanobacterial toxins
  • Cyanophage
  • Cylindrospermopsin
  • Gloeobacter
  • Microcystis
  • Nostocales
  • Oscillatoriales
  • Phycocyanin
  • Phycoerythrin
  • Prochlorococcus
  • Spirulina
  • Stigonematales
  • Synechococcus

Authors should read over the journal’s For Authors carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.

Please kindly specify the “Special Issue” under your manuscript title. The research field “Special Issue - Cyanobacteria Research” should be selected during your submission.
