Special Issue on Reactive Intermediates Chemistry

Reactive Intermediates Chemistry is central to a modern mechanistic and quantitative understanding of organic chemistry. Moreover, it underlies a significant portion of modern synthetic chemistry, and is frequently integral to a molecular view of biological chemistry. Reactive intermediates are molecular entities with lifetimes appreciably longer than a molecular vibration, formed during the conversion of reactants to products for a chemical reaction. Study of these transient species not only provide detailed understanding of the potential energy surface for the specific reaction, but also find numerous applications in field such as organic synthesis, photolytic spectroscopy, and rapid progress in theory and computational methods. 
 

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles on exploring reactive intermediates chemistry. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

• Carbocation and carbanion intermediates
• Kinds of reactive intermediates (Organic radical ions, Carbenes, Nitrenes, Arynes, etc.)
• Reaction of reactive intermediates
• Strained hydrocarbons: structures, stability, and reactivity
• Matrix isolation
• Identification and Characterization of reactive intermediates
• Potential energy surfaces and reaction dynamics
• Application of reactive intermediates
