Special Issue on Thyroid Disease

Thyroid is one of the largest endocrine glands in human body which is located at the base of the throat. It controls how quickly the body uses energy, makes proteins, and controls how sensitive the body is to hormones. Nowadays, the increasing incidence rate of thyroid disease has been reported in many countries, such as United States, Canada, France, Italy, UK, Korean, Japan, as well as China. So thyroid disease has become the hot attention spot in medical research.

Thyroid diseases (TD) include functional disorders, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, goiter, and tumors. Age, gender, BMI, TSH levels, estrogen levels, family history of thyroid diseases, pressure, eating habits and exposure to radiation can affect the risk of thyroid diseases. Many researches have demonstrated that female has a much higher incidence rate than male. So far, the diagnosis includes blood hormone test, ultrasound exam, CAT scan, fine-needle aspiration biopsy of the thyroid and surgical biopsy.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles on exploring thyroid disease. The topics to be covered by this special issue include, but are not limited to:

• Epidemiological studies of Thyroid disease
• Etiology of Thyroid disease
• Genetics of Thyroid disease
• Molecular correlates of Thyroid disease
• Pathogenesis of Thyroid disease
• Pharmacology of Thyroid disease
• Psychology of Thyroid disease
• Signs and symptoms of Thyroid disease 

Authors should read over the journal’s Authors’ Guidelines carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.
