Special Issue on Fractal Theory and Applications

Fractals are mathematical sets that have fractal dimensions that exceed their topological dimension and fall between integers. With typically self-similar patterns, fractals may be exactly the same or nearly the same at every scale. As a frontier and important branch of nonlinear science, fractals links to the nature and the theory in mathematics.

As one of the greatest natural science discoveries in the last century, fractals have been widely investigated and significant progress has been made in past several decades. It has become an exciting emerging interdisciplinary area in which a broad spectrum of technologies and methodologies are being studied to deal with large, complex, and dynamical problems in many scientific disciplines, such as geology, microbiology, biology, computer science, economics, engineering, finance, algorithmic trading, meteorology, philosophy, physics, politics, population dynamics, psychology, and robotics.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles on exploring fractal theory and applications. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Fractal geometry
  • Iterated function systems
  • Fractal dimensions
  • Complex dynamics
  • Fractal surfaces
  • Fractal functions
  • Wavelets
  • Fractals in economics, business and forecasting applications
  • Fractals in computer science
  • Fractals in engineering applications

Authors should read over the journal’s Authors’ Guidelines carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.

Please kindly notice that the “Special Issue” under your manuscript title is supposed to be specified and the research field “Special Issue - Fractal Theory and Applications” should be chosen during your submission.

According to the following timetable:

Manuscript Due

April 24th, 2014
