Special Issue on Advances in Sex Education

This special issue mainly focuses on the discussion of sex education, such as human sexual anatomy, sexual reproduction, sexual activity, reproductive health, emotional relations, reproductive rights and responsibilities, abstinence, and birth control, sexually transmitted infections and how to avoid them. As we know, sex education may be taught informally, it may be delivered through sex self-help authors, magazine advice columnists, sex columnists, or sex education web sites. Traditionally, adolescents were not given any information on sexual matters, with discussion of these issues being considered taboo. Much of such information was usually known to be deficient, especially during the period following puberty when curiosity of sexual matters was the most acute. This deficiency became increasingly evident by the increasing incidence of teenage pregnancies. As part of each country's efforts to reduce such pregnancies, programs of sex education were instituted; what’s more, the outbreak of AIDS has given a new sense of urgency to sex education.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles on exploring advances in sex education. The topics to be covered by this special issue include, but are not limited to:

  • Sexual education
  • Safe sex
  • Sexually transmitted infections

  • Reproductive health
  • Premarital sex
