Special Issue on Democracy and Political Theory

The classical definition of democracy is "the people are masters of the country" in the sense of people's sovereignty. Democracy has different forms and different understandings in different historical stages. Under the concepts of "individual freedom" and "constitutional state", democracy is far from the whole of Western political theory and process. Mature modern politics consists of at least three elements: rationalization of authority, separation of structure and expansion of political participation. Political participation is democracy while the separation of structure and rationalization of authority is to restrict democracy to a certain extent.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original researches and review articles on exploring democracy and political theory. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

    • The significance and evolution of democracy
    • Democratic system
    • Democratic political construction and transformation
    • Civil society and democracy
    • Democracy and freedom
    • Capitalism, socialism and democracy
    • Western democracy

Authors should read over the journal’s For Authors carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.

Please kindly notice that the “Special Issue” under your manuscript title is supposed to be specified and the research field “Special Issue – Democracy and Political Theory” should be chosen during your submission.
