Special Issue on Spatial Modeling and Reasoning

Spatial modeling is the abstraction or simplification of entities or phenomena in the real world. It is the expression of the most important components of an entity or phenomenon and their relations. Spatial reasoning is the process of modeling, describing and representing spatial objects by using space theory and artificial intelligence technology, and then qualitative and quantitative analysis and processing of spatial relations among spatial objects. The diversity of spatial objects (points, arcs, networks, planes, complex objects, etc.) that constitute the spatial model determines the complexity of spatial model building. Spatial reasoning must be able to describe spatial behavior. Spatial modeling and reasoning is one of the important indexes to evaluate the function of GIS.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original researches and review articles on exploring spatial modeling and reasoning. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

    • The operation of spatial modeling
    • Basic operation of model builder
    • Formation process of graph model
    • Spatio-temporal reasoning
    • Spatial relation language
    • Spatial decision support system
    • Accuracy of spatial databases
    • Applications of spatial reasoning

Authors should read over the journal’s For Authors carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.

Please kindly notice that the “Special Issue” under your manuscript title is supposed to be specified and the research field “Special Issue – Spatial Modeling and Reasoning” should be chosen during your submission.

    According to the following timetable:

    Submission Deadline
