Special Issue on Hippocampus

The hippocampus is located in the medial temporal lobe of the brain, which is a small region of the brain that forms part of the limbic system underneath the cortical surface. It is primarily associated with memory and spatial navigation. In diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, the hippocampus is one of the first regions of the brain to become damaged and this leads to the memory loss and disorientation associated with the condition.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles on exploring Hippocampus. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Memory loss
  • Memory, learning, and emotion
  • Neurons in the hippocampus
  • Hippocampal formation
  • Role in memory
  • Role in spatial memory and navigation

Authors should read over the journal’s For Authors carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.

Please kindly specify the “Special Issue” under your manuscript title. The research field “Special Issue - Hippocampus” should be selected during your submission.
