Special Issue on Water Resources Sustainable Development
Water is life. Growing pressure on water resources – from population and economic growth, climate change, pollution, and other challenges – has major impacts on our social, economic, and environmental well-being. Many of our most important aquifers are being over-pumped, causing widespread declines in groundwater levels. The world’s water problems stem from our failure to meet basic human needs, ineffective or inappropriate institutions and management, and our inability to balance human needs with the needs of the natural world. These maladies are rooted in a wasteful use of water, characterized by poor management systems, improper economic incentives, underinvestment, failure to apply existing technologies, and an antiquated mindset focused almost exclusively on developing new supplies – to the exclusion of “soft path” conservation and efficiency measures.
In this special issue, we invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles that explore water resources sustainable development. In this special issue, potential topics include, but are not limited to:
-
Integrated water resources development and management
-
Water resources assessment
-
Protection of water resources, water quality and aquatic ecosystems
-
Drinking water supply and sanitation
-
Water and sustainable urban development
-
Water for sustainable food production and rural development
-
Impacts of climate change on water resources
Authors should read over the journal’s For Authors carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.
Please kindly note that the “Special Issue” under your manuscript title should be specified and the research field “Special Issue - Water Resources Sustainable Development” should be selected during your submission.
