Special Issue on Oil Pollution Research

Oil pollution is the almost inevitable consequence of the dependence on a largely oil-based technology. The use of oil without loss is impossible; losses occur in production, transportation, refining and use. Oil pollution has a major impact on the ecosystem into which it is released and may constitute ecocide. Spills in populated areas often spread out over a wide area, destroying crops and aquacultures through contamination of the groundwater and soils. Oil spills at sea are generally much more damaging than those on land. This can kill sea birds, mammals, shellfish and other organisms it coats. The goal of this special issue is to provide a platform for scientists and academicians all over the world to promote, share, and discuss various new issues and developments in the area of oil pollution research.

In this special issue, we invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles that explore oil pollution research. In this special issue, potential topics include, but are not limited to:

• Environmental effects of oil pollution
• Human impact of oil pollution
• Oil pollution prevention plan
• Control and remediation of oil pollution
• Oil pollution monitoring
• Emergency management of oil pollution
• Environmental sensitivity index (ESI) maps
• Oil spill model systems

Authors should read over the journal’s Authors’ Guidelines carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.
