Special Issue on Post Translational Modifications

Protein post-translational modification (PTM) which is an important step in protein biosynthesis increases the functional diversity of the proteome by the covalent addition of functional groups or proteins, proteolytic cleavage of regulatory subunits or degradation of entire proteins. These modifications include phosphorylation, glycosylation, ubiquitination and so on which influence almost all aspects of normal cell biology and pathogenesis. Therefore, identifying and understanding PTM is critical in the study of cell biology and disease treatment and prevention.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles on exploring post translational modifications. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Addition of unique groups (phosphorylation, glycosylation, etc.)
  • Addition of other proteins or peptides (ubiquitination, etc.)
  • Structural changes (disulfide bridges, etc.)
  • Lipidation
  • Proteolysis
  • Other modifications
  • Case examples

Authors should read over the journal’s Authors’ Guidelines carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.

Please kindly notice that the “Special Issue” under your manuscript title is supposed to be specified and the research field “Special Issue - Post Translational Modifications” should be chosen during your submission.

According to the following timetable:

Submission Deadline

February 26th, 2015

Publication Date

April 2015
