Call For Papers

Special Issue on “RNA”

call for paper

Ribonucleic acid (RNA) is one of the three major biological macromolecules that are essential for all known forms of life (along with DNA and proteins). For many years RNA was believed to have only three major roles in the cell–as a DNA photocopy, as a coupler between the genetic code and the protein building blocks, and as a structural component of ribosomes. In recent years, however, we have begun to realize that the roles adopted by RNA are much broader and much more interesting. For example, RNA can also act as enzymes (called ribozymes) to speed chemical reactions. RNA also plays an important role in regulating cellular processes–from cell division, differentiation and growth to cell aging and death. Defects in certain RNAs or the regulation of RNAs have been implicated in a number of important human diseases, including heart disease, some cancers, stroke and many others.

Advances in Bioscience and Biotechnology
is pleased to present a Special Issue focusing on the “RNA-centered” science and covering a broad range of subjects in RNA research. Original research articles, review articles as well as communications related to the recent progress in RNA are welcome to be submitted. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Messenger RNA (mRNA) structure, function and biogenesis
  • Transfer RNA (tRNA) structure, function, biogenesis and identity
  • Ribosomal RNA (rRNA) structure, function and biogenesis
  • Small nuclear RNA (snRNA) structure, function and biogenesis
  • RNA editing, catalysis, transport and localization
  • Structural analysis by biochemical or biophysical means
  • Alternative processing: cis-acting elements and trans-acting factors
  • Ribosome structure and function
  • Viral RNA metabolism
  • RNA stability, turnover and translational control
  • RNA chemistry and in vitro evolution

Instructions for submission:
The submission website for this journal is located at Paper Submission System. To ensure that all manuscripts are correctly identified for consideration by the Special Issue, the authors should specify the “Special Issue’’ under your manuscript title, and the research field “Special Issue-RNA” should be chosen during your submission process.
